Flood — St. Francois, Missouri

2025-04-04 · near Iron Mtn, St. Francois, Missouri

Event narrative

Heavy rain on the scale of 9 to 11 inches caused Dry Creek near Bismarck and Indian Creek near Iron Mountain Lake. Near Farmington, 6 inches of water was reported on Maple Street, and Westmeyer Road had an estimated foot of running water over it. An older model Chevy Trailblazer drove through the water and floated to the other side. This is a persistent issue when nearby creeks such as Wolf Creek and Kennedy Branch flood.

Wider weather episode

A stationary front over southern Missouri along with ample mid-level forcing, moisture, and efficient rain processes resulted in flooding across portions of east-central and southeast Missouri. Numerous roads across the St. Louis metropolitan area were impassable due to the heavy rainfall.
