Event narrative

A maximum wind gust of 81 MPH was observed at the RAWS station, GDBT2 The Bowl, in the Guadalupe Mountains. The wind sensor did not report for much of the duration of this event, so a longer duration of high winds or a higher maximum wind gust may have occurred.

Wider weather episode

An intense trough digging into the Four Corners region with rapid cyclogenesis over eastern Colorado produced high winds and blowing dust across much of the southern Great Plains.
