A maximum wind gust of 70 MPH was observed at the West Texas Mesonet site, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, near Guadalupe Pass.
The wider storm
A combination of an approaching trough, a belt of intense southwesterly winds, and a later quickly advancing front resulted in sporadic high winds across portions of Southeast New Mexico and West Texas.
