2025-02-06 to 2025-02-07 · Missouri Headwaters, Montana

Event narrative

The public reports 10 inches new snow 12 miles SSE of Boulder over 24 hours.

Wider weather episode

A strong temperature gradient across Central MT and vicinity combined with moisture streaming northward ahead of a more broad Pacific trough to result in some overrunning snow. The snow became locally intense around Bozeman a bit south of where the temperatures gradient was strongest, which prompted Winter Storm Warnings.
