Heavy Snow — Helena Valley, Montana

2025-02-06 to 2025-02-07 · Helena Valley, Montana

Event narrative

Two reports in the Helena valley of 6 inches or greater new snow, including a 9 inch report 1 mile SSW of the center of Helena.

Wider weather episode

A strong temperature gradient across Central MT and vicinity combined with moisture streaming northward ahead of a more broad Pacific trough to result in some overrunning snow. The snow became locally intense around Bozeman a bit south of where the temperatures gradient was strongest, which prompted Winter Storm Warnings.
