Event narrative

Three teens were rescued by Lake Worth Beach lifeguards and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue after they were caught in rip currents at Lake Worth Beach. The three swimmers were transported to a hospital after receiving CPR. Two were in stable condition and one teen succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Wider weather episode

As a cold front passed South Florida, there were cautionary conditions across the local waters on April 12th. Seas were in the 3-5 feet range across all local waters with northeasterly winds around 15 kts. This lead to a strong risk for rip currents, particularly for the beaches in northern Palm Beach county.
