Event narrative

The Emory river near Oakdale went into flood for close to 7 hours during the morning of March 16th. It crossed into minor flood stage during the early morning hours, crested in moderate flood at 28.71 shortly after daybreak, then fell back below flood stage before noon.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper trough and low pressure system helped generate a powerful low level jet of winds that led to both high wind reports and wind damage. However, potential energy in the atmosphere was lacking, with severe storms only generating a handful of damage reports and funnel clouds.
