Strong thunderstorm winds knocked down multiple trees and powerlines.
The wider storm
A strong cold front crossed the area producing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The front moved into an environment that had limited instability yet strong winds aloft. The lower atmosphere was also supportive of mixing down strong damaging wind gusts to the surface as was the case with a few of the showers and thunderstorms crossing the Southern Tier of NY.
