Multiple reports of quarter, or slightly larger, size hail stones from Chicod to Grimesland. The hails was reported via WITN TV.

Wider weather episode

Scattered showers and thunderstorms moved along a stationary boundary through the Coastal Plain counties of Eastern NC during the late afternoon into early evening. Several storms became severe and produced large hail, damaging wind, and an isolated tornado.
