Severe thunderstorms impacted Middle Tennessee during the afternoon and evening hours of May 8, 2025. With a very cold airmass aloft, this allowed for steep lapse rates which helped to set the stage for large hail. Several reports of large hail was received across Middle Tennessee with the largest hail of two inches being reported in Franklin. Additionally, severe winds also downed several trees.
