Event narrative

Hail was mostly 0.50 inches in diameter one-half mile west of US Highway 41.

Wider weather episode

A slowly-advancing warm front brought mid to upper 60s dewpoints northward through central Indiana during the afternoon. Despite relatively cool temperatures, resultant instability and wind shear were adequate in the early evening to produce widely scattered strong to marginally-severe thunderstorms. Winds downed trees in Crawfordsville before one-inch hail was reported on the south side of the Indianapolis Metro.
