ASOS station KHVR Havre Airport measured a wind chill of -42F. Another sensor (DW0217 Havre) measured a -55F wind chill.

The wider storm

A cyclonic flow aloft, with several embedded shortwaves passing through it, allowed for several pushes of bitterly cold air to filter into the region from Canada in the early to mid February timeframe.
