Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted over far western and northern portions of Garfield County through the end of February. The cooperative observer at Burwell reported 0.86 inches of precipitation for February. This was 0.18 inches above the normal of 0.68 inches. The cooperative observer at Ericson 8WNW reported 0.22 inches of precipitation for February. This was 0.43 inches below the normal of 0.65 inches.

Wider weather episode

Moderate (D1) drought conditions expanded slightly over portions of southwestern Nebraska in February. Across the remainder of western and north central Nebraska, drought conditions remained unchanged through the end of the month.
