Event narrative

A landslide tore through a Santa Rosa home built on a burn scar from the 2017 Tubbs Fire, trapping two residents until firefighters pulled them to safety. Fire crews arrived around 5 p.m. Wednesday to the 2800 block of Deer Trail Court in Rincon Valley, where shifting earth ripped apart the home, collapsing sections of its walls and roof. Officials put 16 nearby homes on an evacuation warning out of an abundance of caution.

Wider weather episode

An intense atmospheric river impacted the Bay Area from February 3rd to the 4th, bringing heavy rain and strong wind to the region, especially across the North Bay. The Russian River near Guerneville flooded due to the heavy rain.
