Event narrative
Seven large trees and a few powerlines were reported down, blocking roads in the Laurel Hill area.
Wider weather episode
A mid-level trough approaching the Mid South and a slow moving surface cold front across western and northern North Carolina kept central North Carolina in a deep and moist southwest flow. Afternoon heating in the east contributed to a few fast-moving bowing segments that produced severe straight-line winds and led to downed trees and power lines.
