Event narrative

A public weather station on the northwest side of Port Clinton recorded a peak convective wind gust of 39-mph.

Wider weather episode

At the surface, a low moved north-northeastward from northwestern IN to southwestern Lower MI during the early afternoon through late evening of the 24th. This allowed the trailing cold front to sweep eastward across IN toward the IN/OH border, while the warm front drifted northeastward across northern OH, much of southern Lower MI, western and central Lake Erie, and portions of northwest PA. Within the warm and moist sector, scattered multicell thunderstorms persisted northeastward and eastward over western and central portions of Lake Erie during the early evening. These storms generated isolated gale-force straight-line wind gusts in the Port Clinton, OH area amidst moderate effective bulk shear and MUCAPE, respectively.
