Event narrative
An NWS storm survey found wind damage consistent with 70 to 75 mph winds across a portion of Gloucester County just east of Gloucester High School. Several trees were snapped and blown over, including one tree which fell through a home.
Wider weather episode
A deep trough over the Midwest and surface low near the Great Lakes brought a robust cold front into the Mid Atlantic region. A strongly-forced area of linear convection moved from west to east across portions of central into eastern Virginia. These storms mostly produced strong to severe straight line wind gusts but one waterspout moved ashore from the York River into Gloucester county, causing EF0 damage.
