Event narrative

Local law enforcmement and state emergency management personnel, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, reported a 130 acre wildfire along the Rio Grande 7 miles south-southeast of Donna, or immediately east of the Lower Rio Grande Wildlife Refuge at Santa Ana. The wildfire consumed a shed, but no other property damage was reported in the rural area.

A wildfire, sparked by embers from a debris burn just across the Rio Grande in rural northern Tamaulipas, Mexico, ultimately consumed 130 acres - spread by strong south/southeast winds, very low humidity, hot temperatures, and dry fuels (grasses and some brush) - along the Rio Grande 7 miles south-southeast of Donna and just east of the Santa Ana National Wildfire Refuge. The fire consumed a shed.
