Wider weather episode

A complex severe weather setup evolved overnight as a line of storms moved into northwest Webb County, tracking east-southeast through South Texas into the early morning hours. The main drivers of this event included a slow-moving mid-level circulation (MCV) originating from storms over southeast New Mexico, and an approaching upper-level shortwave that was set to enhance thunderstorm activity overnight. The presence of rich moisture, steep lapse rates, and sufficient upper-level flow created favorable conditions for damaging winds.
