Event narrative

The C-MAN station at Realitos Peninsula (near the mouth of the Arroyo Colorado) recorded a peak wind gust of 40 knots at 9:18 AM CST on the 27th. However, meso low/wake high wind gradient maintained gale-force gusts for more than six hours through late morning, with conditions relaxing after 11 AM CST.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper level disturbance combined with a stationary front to produce periods of strong to severe thunderstorms on land that pushed across the Lower Texas Gulf and Laguna Madre waters during the morning of March 27th and again during the late evening of the same day and post-midnight hours of the 28th.
