The C-MAN station at Realitos Peninsula (near the mouth of the Arroyo Colorado) recorded a peak wind gust of 48 knots at 6:42 PM CST on the 27th, as the first of several bands of strong thunderstorms swept across the Lower Laguna Madre. Gale force winds began at 6:36 and continued through 6:45 PM CST.

A strong upper level disturbance combined with a stationary front to produce periods of strong to severe thunderstorms on land that pushed across the Lower Texas Gulf and Laguna Madre waters during the morning of March 27th and again during the late evening of the same day and post-midnight hours of the 28th.
