Event narrative

Winds generally gusted 45 to 55 mph with gusts as high as 64 mph at the Hyannis Airport ASOS (KHYA) at 3:39 PM EDT. Some other gusts include 63 mph in West Dennis at 4:26 PM EDT and 60 mph at West Falmouth at 3:54 PM EDT. In East Falmouth, a tree was down blocking parts of Old Barnstable Rd. In Barnstable, a large tree was down on Oak St. In Cotuit, a large tree was down blocking Great Neck Rd.

Wider weather episode

A lingering trough of low pressure placed a low level jet over southeast MA and just offshore which brough a period of strong, damaging winds mainly to the Cape and Islands. Winds generally gusted as high as 45 to 55 mph.
