A total of 2.4 inches of snow was reported in the southeast corner of Preston County, 7 miles north of Thomas. An inch fell southeast of Bruceton Mills.

Occluding surface low pressure tracked across the Upper Ohio Valley and into western New York by the morning of January 1st. Rain transitioned to snow behind a crossing cold front in strong cold advection. Upslope enhancement led to significant snow accumulation in eastern Tucker County, with less reported in Preston County.
