Event narrative

A thunderstorm produced wind gusts estimated at 65 mph. The wind damaged the roofs of several buildings at an apartment complex, peeled sheet metal off another structure, and downed a tree. The damage was near Del Rio High School along Memorial Dr. and Avondale St.

Wider weather episode

Southwesterly flow aloft provided enough lift to generate thunderstorms over the mountains in northern Mexico. One of these storms moved into Texas and produced strong wind gusts in Del Rio.
