Event narrative

The Opequon Creek near Berryville stream gauge reached minor flood stage with it's crest peaking in moderate flood stage at 13.21 feet. At 10 feet, both Old Charles Town Road and Sulphur Springs Road are flooded near the creek. At 12.5 feet, numerous roads are flooded, along with a fairly large area of farmland. Access to some homes may be restricted. At 13 feet, water approaches the intersection of Brucetown Road and Shady Creek Road. The bridge itself is still well above water.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving closed upper level low originating from the Gulf of America brought anomalous moisture into the area bringing localized heavy rain and a long duration moderate rain event.
