Event narrative

The Rapidan River near Culpeper river gauge reached minor flood stage with a peak crest of 15.58 feet. At 13 feet, farmland near the river between Rapidan and Raccoon Ford begins to flood. At 14 feet, river Road on the Orange County side of the Rapidan River is flooded in a few spots, and pastureland is flooded on both sides of the river. Other low lying roads near the river are also beginning to flood, and access to homes may become limited. No structures are affected at this level.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving closed upper level low originating from the Gulf of America brought anomalous moisture into the area bringing localized heavy rain and a long duration moderate rain event.
