Event narrative

The South Branch Potomac River Near Springfield river gauge reached minor flood stage with a peak crest of 15.02 feet. At 15 feet, milleson Mill Road (County Route 28/5) and Clarence Taylor Road (Route 3/7) begin to flood. Water covers a significant portion of meadowlands near the river. The boat launch ramp on the upstream right abutment of the bridge also floods.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving closed upper level low originating from the Gulf of America brought anomalous moisture into the area bringing localized heavy rain and a long duration moderate rain event.
