A waterspout was reported 2 miles east of Wanchese in the Roanoke Sound as thunderstorms were moving through the area.

Wider weather episode

A stalled frontal boundary produced thunderstorms across much of the inland waters of Eastern North Carolina north of the Neuse River. The strongest storms produced large hail, and waterspouts.
