Wind gust was recorded at Duck Pier as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.
Wider weather episode
A surface trough pushed east across the Coastal Plain of Eastern North Carolina to the coast on the evening of May 16th. As this occurred, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed along and out ahead of this trough with a few isolated storms becoming strong to severe in nature. Damaging wind gusts were the main hazard within the strongest storms.
