Event narrative

Wind gust occurred as thunderstorms moved through the waters near the mouth of the Neuse River. Report came from the Oriental L7 XOTL WeatherFlow station.

Wider weather episode

A cold front tracked across Eastern North Carolina on the evening of the thirty-first. Out ahead of this front, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed and tracked south-eastwards, mainly impacting the waters south of Oregon Inlet. A few of these thunderstorms became strong to severe in nature bringing a strong and damaging wind threat within the strongest storms.
