Wind gust occurred as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came from the Ocracoke XOCR WeatherFlow Station in the Pamlico Sound.
Wider weather episode
A cold front tracked across Eastern North Carolina on the evening of the thirty-first. Out ahead of this front, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed and tracked south-eastwards, mainly impacting the waters south of Oregon Inlet. A few of these thunderstorms became strong to severe in nature bringing a strong and damaging wind threat within the strongest storms.
