Report came in via the Oriental L7 XOTL WeatherFlow Station in the Neuse River as thunderstorms were moving through the area.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough combined with the sea breeze boundary produced showers and thunderstorms in the mid to late afternoon hours. Showers and storms developed in the Coastal Plain and then tracked E'wards across the Eastern North Carolina waters. A few storms became strong to severe and produced damaging wind gusts which impacted all waters around the area.
