Peak Wind gust was measured at the northern end of the Roanoke Sound as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough combined with the sea breeze boundary produced showers and thunderstorms in the mid to late afternoon hours. Showers and storms developed in the Coastal Plain and then tracked E'wards across the Eastern North Carolina waters. A few storms became strong to severe and produced damaging wind gusts which impacted all waters around the area.
