Wind gust occurred as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came in via a WeatherFlow Station in the Pamlico Sound.

Wider weather episode

A surface trough lifted northeastwards across the waters of Eastern North Carolina during the morning of June Eighth. As this trough lifted northeastward, showers and thunderstorms developed along a line and tracked northeastward with a few of these storms within the line becoming strong to severe in nature bringing damaging wind gusts to the coastal waters from Cape Lookout to Oregon Inlet and the Pamlico Sound.
