Wind gust was recorded on the Emerald Drive Tempest Station which is located along the Bogue Sound as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report came in via WeatherFlow.

Wider weather episode

A mesoscale convective complex developed across portions of Georgia and South Carolina during the morning of the Eighth and this complex of thunderstorms quickly raced east-northeastwards across the southern Coastal Plain during the afternoon. A few of these storms became strong in nature bringing strong and damaging wind gusts to the coastal waters south of Cape Hatteras and the Pamlico Sound as they tracked across the region.
