Wider weather episode

A surface trough developed along the Coastal Plain during the late morning on the Fourteenth. Out ahead and along the surface trough, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and tracked east-northeastwards along the Crystal Coast and southern Pamlico Sound. A few isolated thunderstorms became strong to severe in nature bringing strong and damaging wind gusts to portions of the Crystal Coast.
