Large trough over the eastern US provided enough forcing and shear to force multiple severe and sub-severe thunderstorms during the evening of May 8th into the early morning hours of May 9th. Instability was sufficient to yield a couple of supercells, one of which produced severe hail near Johnston in Edgefield county.
