What the National Weather Service wrote

An eight inch diameter limb was blown off a tree in Radford. Damage values are estimated.

The wider storm

A strong upper trough for late July pushed a cold front through the region during the evening hours of the 23rd. Although instability was rather marginal...cooling aloft allowed for a broken line of severe convection to propagate across the Blue Ridge and into the Piedmont during the evening.

Began near Radford (37.1300, -80.5700).
