Event narrative

The dam operator at Calamus Reservoir reports 4.06 inches of rainfall. Said roads were washed out west of Burwell.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms initiated during the early afternoon hours over northern Cherry County. They then expanded to the south, into northern Lincoln County over the next few hours becoming severe. A second area of strong to severe storms, originating over northeastern Colorado, tracked into southwestern Nebraska later in the evening. The two areas merged, before lifting northeast into South Dakota after midnight. Hail up to tennis ball size and thunderstorm wind gusts up to 82 MPH were reported.
