A trained spotter reported quarter sized hail in Manning.

A departing surface low and upper trough, provided enough lift for scattered thunderstorms in the eastern Midlands on the afternoon of 5/14. The environment was characterized by both moderate instability and deep layer shear. This yielded a single strong cell over Manning, SC which produced severe hail.
