Wider weather episode
A digging trough with strong mid-level winds helped trigger and develop a well organized mesoscale convective system across the southeast US on June 7th. Robust low level moisture and dry air aloft produced an ideal environment for strong instability to mix down strong winds to the surface. This resulted in a wide and long lived swath of damaging straight line winds throughout western and central SC.
