SCHP reported a tree down on Interstate 20 near mile marker 58. Later media reports indicated that the tree fell onto a vehicle and killed a female inside the car.
Social media reported a woman was struck by lightning as she deplaned onto the tarmac to walk into the terminal at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. She eventually died from her injuries August 5.
