Wind gust was measured at the White Point Atlantic Channel WeatherFlow station in the Core Banks as thunderstorms moved through the area.

Wider weather episode

A stalled front remained centered along an east west line from Martin County to Dare County and offshore. To the south of this stalled front, several convergence zones associated with leftover boundaries from the previous days thunderstorm activity resulted in scattered linear segments of shower and thunderstorm activity developing across the Coastal Plain and tracking eastward towards the Crystal Coast and southern Pamlico Sound. A few isolated storms within these linear segments became strong to severe in nature bringing strong and damaging wind gusts to portions of the far southern Pamlico Sound and Core Banks.
