Event narrative

Wind gust was measured at the REAL Slick XSLK WeatherFlow station in the Pamlico Sound as thunderstorms moved through the area.

Wider weather episode

A cold front pushed east across the the Triad into the Coastal Plain and eventually off the Eastern North Carolina Coast during the overnight and early morning hours of May 19th and 20th. Along this frontal boundary a line of rain and thunderstorms developed and pushed east eventually pushing off the coast and impacting the eastern North Carolina Coastal Waters during the early morning hours on the 20th. A few isolated storms within this line became strong to severe in nature bringing damaging wind gusts to portions of the Pamlico Sound and Coastal waters between Oregon Inlet and Duck.
