Event narrative
Strong thunderstorms winds resulted in a swath of damage 1 to 3 miles north of Himrod. A roof was blown off in one piece from a farmhouse, the metal chute on the side of a silo had minor damage, numerous trees were knocked down and a set of power poles were broken.
Wider weather episode
Scattered thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening of the 29th along and ahead of a strong cold front that swept through the area. An increase in moisture, shear and instability during the afternoon and temperatures rising into the upper 70s to lower 80s led to strong to severe thunderstorms developing with damaging winds being the main impact. Thunderstorms started off cellular in nature before ending as a more organized line of showers and storms.
