A public report estimated wind gusts at 60 mph. A mesonet site recorded a 56 mph gust shortly before the public report at the KKSNESSC2 observing station.

As a trough from a deep low entered the area, a line of clustered storms developed and moved into the area. One long lasting cluster moved through the northern counties producing both severe winds and hail.
