What the National Weather Service wrote

Kansas State Mesonet site Hodgeman County measured an 88 mph wind gust.

The wider storm

A combination of a mid-level front and an upper-level shortwave provided the lift needed to generate a line of storms. Given plenty of moisture, a line of storms were able to develop and strengthen. Once reaching the center of the CWA, a large enough cold pool developed to create a bowing segment with higher winds resulting in severe wind reports and damage.

Began near Jetmore (38.1000, -99.9000).
