Event narrative

Two 20 inch diameter white spruce trees were snapped 4 to 6 feet off the ground by the winds. The downed trees then took down some nearby power lines.

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure in western Minnesota brought severe storms to the Northland the afternoon and evening of the 15th. Most of the damage was to trees across the region with some areas of enhanced tree damage occurring along the North Shore in the Tofte area.
