Event narrative

Numerous spruce and poplar trees were snapped along the lake side of Highway 61. The area of damaged trees appeared to be fairly localized.

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure in western Minnesota brought severe storms to the Northland the afternoon and evening of the 15th. Most of the damage was to trees across the region with some areas of enhanced tree damage occurring along the North Shore in the Tofte area.
