Event narrative
Scattered trees and power lines were blown down by strong winds. A large limb fell and struck a woman in Stonewall. She was transported to the hospital and passed away from the injury that evening. Downed power lines started a fire in the woods along CR 690. A peak wind gust of 53 mph was measured at Meridian - Key Field during this time frame.
Wider weather episode
A line of severe storms pushed across the region and produced damaging wind gusts that downed trees and power lines, and damaged several structures. Ahead of the storms, strong gradient winds also produced damage to a similar degree. One such incident resulted in a fatality in Vicksburg where a woman succumbed to an injury after she was struck by a large tree limb.
